چکیده

Histiocytoses are clonal disorders diseases derived from the monocyte-macrophage lineage. The Erdheim–Chester Disease (ECD) and Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) may occur in association with overlapping clinical, histopathological molecular features, harboring somatic MAP2K1 mutations more than 50% of patients. BRAF MEK inhibitors have shown to be efficacious ECD LCH, including responses patients CNS involvement. This case report describes a 59-year-old woman who presented vemurafenib-refractory ECD/LCH overlap syndrome treated vemurafenib/cobimetinib dual therapy, rapidly progressing neurological involvement after its initiation. Although targeted therapy plays crucial role treatment histiocytosis, only anecdotal clinical cases been reported or LCH collaborative trials needed improve outcomes.

A Rare Case of Erdheim-Chester Disease and Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Overlap Syndrome

A 48-year-old woman with a past medical history of seizures and end-stage renal disease secondary to obstructive uropathy from retroperitoneal fibrosis presented to the emergency department with seizures and altered mental status. A Glasgow Coma Scale of 4 prompted intubation, and she was subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit. Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain performed to eluc...

Successful treatment of Erdheim-Chester disease, a non-Langerhans-cell histiocytosis, with interferon-alpha.

Erdheim-Chester disease is a rare non-Langerhans histiocytosis with multisystem involvement. To date, there is no standard treatment for this disorder, and more than half of the patients succumb within 3 years. Because interferon-alpha promotes the terminal differentiation of histiocytes and dendritic cells, we hypothesized that this molecule would be a useful therapy for Erdheim-Chester diseas...

Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Followed by Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Case Report

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare neoplasm defined as the proliferation of bone marrow langerhans cells, which is a kind of dendritic cells. The major pathological features of LCH are expression of CD1a and S100 as well as Birbeck granules. Its presentation can differ from a mild bone lesion to a multi-systemic evolved malignant neoplasm; however, the latter outcome is almost rare. ...

Erdheim-Chester Disease: A Case Report

A 42-year-old man with Erdheim-Chester disease (EC) is presented. This is the first case of this disease reported in Korea. The patient complained of knee pain and plain roentgenogram of the bilateral legs revealed diffusely increased density, coarsened trabecular pattern, and cortical thickening in the diaphysis, and metaphysis as well as epiphysis. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the...

Effective BRAF inhibitor vemurafenib therapy in a 2-year-old patient with sequentially diagnosed Langerhans cell histiocytosis and Erdheim–Chester disease

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare histiocytic disorder, characterized by the xanthomatous infiltration of tissues by CD68-positive and CD1a-/CD100-negative foamy histiocytes. In childhood, ECD is exceptionally rare, and only a dozen cases have been published so far. The cooccurence of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) and ECD is even rarer. Here, we report a 2-year-old boy, the youngest...
